Makita Tool Batteries
The convenience and portability of cordless power tools come with a price. The batteries that power these tools
need to be replaced at regular intervals. It does not matter if we are talking about Makita tool batteries, DeWalt
tool batteries, Bosch tool batteries, Skil tool batteries or any other brand for that matter. Over time they will
lose their ability to be fully charged and hold the charge.
Most modern batteries are of the lithium ion (Li-ion) type. These types of batteries have been a significant
improvement over the older nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries. However they do not last forever. Eventually the
batteries will not hold the same level of charge. The power tool user will start to notice that their tools don't
last as long and that the power is diminished.
The MAKSTAR system enhances battery life by continuously monitoring the condition of the
battery. It detects how many times the unit was charged, and diagnoses the condition of MAKSTAR Ni-MH/ Li-ion
batteries. There is a microchip which transmits information to the charger to condition the battery while it is
charging.
The Makita line also features a wide range of different power levels suitable any type use whether it is for
home use or contractor grade. For most light duty jobs the 9.6 volt and 14.4 volt levels usually work fine.
Contractors and other professionals usually opt for more powerful tools equipped with 24v batteries.
